Far-sighted and passionate, Mario Costa was already working on Dolcificato Costa in the 1920s, a product that in 1924 was awarded the highest honor at the Milan Dairy Exhibition and remains, to this day, the flagship of the company. Since 1919, production has grown steadily and in the 1970s Federico Fileppo Zop took over management, immediately demonstrating that he possessed such a modern and successful managerial imprint that he led the company until 2008 in a continuous succession of successes and awards.

The Mission is quality as an essential choice, respect for the good Italian dairy tradition, integrated by innovative company strategies and by a constantly updated production system. Renewing, while still maintaining a very close link with tradition, means pursuing stability objectives of a constantly changing product and quality through the strict selection of raw materials.

Always oriented towards the future and progress, in 2014 Mario Costa takes a courageous step: under the guidance of Federico's children, Davide and Federica Fileppo Zop, the company decides to invest in the future by building a new and modern structure right in Casalino (Novara). It is an avant-garde dairy from all points of view: the constructive one, characterized by high seismic resistance and extreme modularity; the technological one because important measures have been taken to safeguard hygiene and quality.

To these objectives was added that of internationalization, which is why in October 2021 Mario Costa became part of the Granarolo SpA Group. Granarolo for its part, thanks to this new acquisition, has strengthened its portfolio of territorial dairy excellence, safeguarding the tradition of production of Gorgonzola Mario Costa and giving greater value to the innovative plant. This new synergy leads not only to the promotion of the export of this highly valuable DOP even outside the national borders, but at the same time promotes it throughout the national territory.
